Welcome to the Barrington School District


Remote Instruction:
During the period of time between January 4, thru January 22, 2021, the entire Barrington School District will be on remote instruction. We will return to in-person hybrid learning January 25, 2021.The purpose of this remote period is to provide the safest learning environment for our staff and students following the winter break. Remote instruction during this time will allow a period of isolation while maintaining instruction for all students. All students will follow the live remote learning schedule during this time. Avon classroom teachers will share their classroom schedules with their students and parents, and Woodland school will share their updated remote schedules as well by grade level.


Student Learning Survey:
During the week of January 4th, parents will be asked to respond to a survey in the parent portal and make their selections for learning for the period of January 25 - April 1, 2021. At this time parents can choose for their child(ren) to remain in their current mode of instruction or change to either hybrid or remote. It is essential that all surveys are completed by January 8th so that any necessary adjustments can be made.


Live Streaming Grades 2-8
: Beginning January 25th, students in grades 2-8 will transition to a daily schedule that includes live streaming for core academic subjects. Our teachers have been working diligently to prepare for this transition, with many teachers participating in the pilot program. In grades 2 - 4 classrooms, teachers will provide an update to their live schedules for remote students that will go into effect January 25th, and in grades 5-8, students will receive new daily schedules by grade level. Grades K-1 and self-contained special education classes will continue to offer four full days of instruction, as well as continue the current schedule for live lessons for students who are remote.

If your high school student will be attending Haddon Heights High School in the Fall, (s)he will need a permit issued from the Barrington School District.  This is similar to registering into a new school district.  *** The first step in the process is to complete your pre-registration online at: https://genesis.genesisedu.com/barrington/openReg.   During this online process, you will also be able to upload your required documents, as outlined below.  If you do not have the ability to upload these documents electronically, please follow the in-person steps below:   

In-person submission of these documents will take place at the Barrington Board of Education Office, located at 311 Reading Avenue, Barrington, NJ 08007. There will be a secured lockbox in our foyer, and no appointment is necessary. Please bring these documents with you, place them in the envelope, complete the form on the outside of the envelope, and seal and place the envelope in the secured lockbox. The documents, along with the permit, will be copied and returned to you, by mail. If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Gale Coffield at (856) 547-8467x118, or gcoffield@barringtonschools.net.

Required documents:

 Proof of residency (all 3 items):

- Property Tax Bill, Deed, Mortgage or Lease (child's name must be listed on lease)
- Current Utility Bill (PSE&G and Water)
- Copy of NJ Driver's License

Documentation of Relationship to Student (1 item):
- Legal custody, Court Order or Guardianship Documents issued by the Court or by the State (if applicable)

This process must be completed no later than Friday, August 21, 2020.

IMPORTANT Kindergarten Registration Information - With our school buildings currently being closed, the Barrington School District is beginning the process of registration for Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year online. This is the first step you must take to begin the registration process. Once you have completed the online application, you will be contacted in the near future (exact date to be determined) by our staff to continue the process.   • Lease with the name of the student listed.If the student is not listed on the lease, then also bring a letter from the landlord stating that the student resides with you in the dwelling.
  • Utility bill with your name and address listed.

You must also show personal photo identification (photo driver's license, passport, etc.) when picking up the permit.

The Barrington School District is thrilled to continue our
1:1 Chromebook initiative.  All students in grades K-8 will be provided with a Chromebook device, which is similar to a laptop.  Students in grades 2-8 will be issued a Chromebook for use inside and outside of school.  Students in grades K & 1 will utilize Chromebooks in their classrooms.  Parents and students will be required to read, sign and return the "Student Chromebook Guidelines" usage agreement before a parent can pick up their child's Chromebook.  No Chromebooks will be issued without this completed paperworkAgain, please be sure you have brought your completed usage agreement form, signed by both you and your child.  The agreement can be found on the last page of this packet.  After you pick up your Chromebook, it should be kept in the case that it was given to you in, at all times. Students should be using this case to bring it back and forth to school.   Chargers should be left at home, and used to charge the Chromebook each night.

During times of non remote learning, school hours for both Avon and Woodland are from 8:35 AM until 3:05 PM.  Students should not arrive before 8:25 AM.
